SAIL Amsterdam is the world’s greatest nautical event which was started in Netherlands in 1975. The event is held every five years and everyone is allowed to take part, it is Netherlands’ grandest public festival. Here’s what happens. More than 600 ships, new and old, take to the water all at once creating an amazing spectacle. The tour is free and it starts from North Sea Canal and comes to Ijhaven of Amsterdam. The Canal is clustered with ships and it’s a picturesque view that can as well be the subject of art. This year, the event was scheduled to take place in August.
